Hello everyone, I will be doing the check-ins this week.
How has your sunday been?
Did you ...
... write?
... sent something to your beta?
... edited something?
or
... did you have a nice sunday?
... wanted to write but couldn't?
Todays Discussion Topic:
Regularity - Does it help you to write regularly? Like setting up times - or comit to a daily/weekly word count? Or are you bound by your muse (or what ever you call it)?

Date: Sunday, March 24th, 2013 20:38 (UTC)I feel like I do better when I write regularly, though I haven't been able to set up specific times or have a schedule. But the more often I spend time writing, the less I get thrown off track when a time comes when I can't write. One reason I participate in a lot of short challenges is to keep myself writing, even if it's not writing my WIPs. I'm switching gears now and I'm going to concentrate on the WIPs for a change -- which will likely mean that I'd better have a reasonable facsimile to a schuedule! I am not bound by the muse, though getting flashes of insight from the muse is often motivational for getting into writing when I was doing something else!

Date: Sunday, March 24th, 2013 20:52 (UTC)For some reason, I never managed to wrap my head around set writing times. Maybe I'll just keep trying until finally I have the discipline to make it stick.

Date: Sunday, March 24th, 2013 21:23 (UTC)I write when I can find a little free time between uni and two jobs even though it isn't always easy to do. I try. I did use a weekly word count target for a while but I found it to be restrictive. As for the muse, I tend to ignore it.

Date: Monday, March 25th, 2013 01:46 (UTC)goodreason, though; I went to a con, instead. :DWell.... <sigh>
Date: Monday, March 25th, 2013 19:48 (UTC)Long story short, I lost most of my writing related emails and notifications between yesterday and this morning. Always a chance they might show up again, but I'm not holding my breath. And because my backups didn't get everything, I've lost from there as well. So I have very few if any of the responses I was saving from here.
I did get a smidgen of writing done this weekend. Seems like I am struggling to get anything written lately, whether on screen or off.
That said, I have a girlfriend, Sherry, who has a birthday on the 9th, and I have a gift fic rolling around in my head for her. Another friend, Kate, is having surgery this week, and I'd like to write/finish up a couple of gift fics for her.
When I get one or any of them done, would someone like to beta? They will be in The Equalizer fandom http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088513/?ref_=tt_ov_inf with my original character additions. Possibly a bit PG-13 through R rated, depending on how I start the beginning.
I need to be pushing myself and expanding, and I'm not doing either.
I did write word count goals and all-year-sprints (on LJ) times on my calendar in red sharpie, easier to see as I'm sitting here. I would love to have a set schedule for writing, but every day is different, and usually something urgent will throw me off track.
Take care,
Theresa
