WIP Challenge Check-in, Day 30 -- Thursday

Greetings on Thursday!  What kind of a writing day has it been so far today?

• I thought about my fic once or twice
• I wrote
• I did some planning and/or research
• I edited
• I've sent my fic off to my beta
• I posted today!
• I'm taking a break
• I did something else that I'll talk about in a comment

For Discussion:  Have you ever realized that the short piece you just wrote that was meant to be a one-shot is the perfect opening for a longer WIP?  What do you do when that happens?  Do you go with it, or do you ignore it because you already have enough writing to work on?

I am thinking about fic, but haven't gotten around to doing anything with it as yet. I aim to sit down and stare at one of my chapters today until it writes itself.

As for the discussion, this happens from time to time and I usually ignore it because I have too much other writing on my plate to add something new and probably long. However, the short piece I wrote and posted yesterday is calling to me to be longer, and I'm starting to listen because it would be fun to do. I may not actually write it at this stage, but I can at least make a folder for it on my computer and do some research and make an outline or two. That's usually enough to get a story to be quiet and leave me alone. ;-)

I've had another day of not writing, but at least I'm checking in this time. It's just a lack of brain power, and a lack of enthusiasm that is doing it so I'm hoping a change of routine tomorrow can get be back into the swing of things.

I can't say that's ever happened to me, wanted to write a sequel to something, yeah, but I tend to plan most of my fic pretty thoroughly these days so if I think that might happen it tends to become a longer piece from the very start.
