I'll be starting a writing session in about an hour, in the room WriteThisFanficSessions.

Oh crap. I hadn't realized that we're using AIM (I didn't have time to check out the post about hosting sessions until this weekend). I also forgot that I'm on my brother's computer and even if I wanted to download anything he has absolutely no space on his hard drive.

Actually, looking at his programs, he doesn't have an mIRC or any other messaging services except skype, either. *headdesk* Clearly someone who doesn't have an online life.

I'll be over here, writing during assigned hours and cheering you on at the comm.

Um, I don't think it has to be AIM? I think it can be anything as long as you go to the same room name? I'm... not actually sure. But I think? Based on what intothisshadow said in those posts I linked. But maybe I am reading it wrong...

Feel free to use whatever you want if you do end up hosting sessions yourself, though!

& I'm sorry I'm tech-faily on this one--I almost never use chat (& when I do it's through Gmail) so... I don't know. ;_;

Me too! I am not a tech-savvy person, I just have a tech-savvy gf. And I chat on gmail too, so that's my favorite (since I'm on email all the time anyway). I guess I'll post and ask people to use that. I mean, even if someone doesn't have gmail, they can make an account for the occasion and then never use it again (which is basically what my AIM is).

Oooh, yes, please do go ahead & ask people to use Gmail chat--maybe you'll get other folks who didn't want to use IM. If I'm around I will happily use Gmail chat too.

Yes, I think I'll just put up a post and we can decide what's best for those who decide to attend. It seems silly to set up a particular type if the people attending any given one would prefer to use something else. I have a friend that prefers to do it in the comments to a post (understandable - if you you're in the mood for writing, having chat with all it's pinging can distract you).

Does have to be AIM, but if you have a flash drive, you can get Pidgin Portable and install on the portable drive. (It'll also run off a disc, but that involves saving it somewhere first, which if you have no hard drive space, kills that idea.)

Have you tried Meebo? As long as you have a browser, you should be able to get onto AIM.

(Chat rooms are murkier water, I admit, but it might be worth a try?)
