Today's discussion topic: How early do you let other people such as betas see your work? You you let them in from the very beginning or do you have to polish your fic a fair bit before you let anyone see it?

I sent my fic to a beta reader today. I'm not sure it's really done. I'm hoping she can tell me, one way or the other. I'm scrambling a bit, looking for a beta reader for this one because my usual Narnia beta reader is participating in the same anonymous exchange I'm writing for.

I have one friend who I usually let see things as I'm working on them. She encourages me. I also, depending on the fandom, sometimes have my husband read while I'm in progress so that I can bounce ideas off of him.
