How's the writing going today?

There were a few folks at today's writing session, & a few others that I know were writing during the same time but independently--I hope it was as helpful for you all as it was for me! I did have some distractions & didn't spend the whole time writing my fic, but still, I spent the better part of 3 hours writing/editing. *_* That rarely happens. Thanks for the conversation & commiseration, everyone!

And partly as a result of today's writing session, I am feeling a bit more confident about the fic than I was before--my initial honeymoon phase was threatening to turn into "holy crap, I can't do this, it must be banished to languish in my WIP folder forever!" but now I feel a bit calmer about it. \o/

Still going -- tweaking and researching little details (and learning more about former British Foreign Secretaries than was strictly necessary) and generally avoiding the big section in the middle that still needs to be written!

Aw, nice to see you here! Do you have a specific goal for the month's challenge? So far that's seemed helpful--there are some ideas in this month's signup post to give you an idea of what people have been doing.

Your ficlet was lovely! ♥ I'd just posted on the Natsume LJ comm some fills from fic_promptly too--it would've been nice to include yours in the round-up. Oh well, hopefully there'll be enough fills for me to do another post there!

I have achieved 500 words of fic!

Of, um, what really wants to be an 80,000 word epic. Gaaaah.

NO. NO. I WILL CLUB THIS STORY DOWN TO NOVELLA LENGTH. EVERYTHING THAT'S NOT SMUT IS UNIMPORTANT.

500 is awesome! Especially considering you were at 75 & wanting to go get a sandwich when I left, so yay!

Even if it ends up being 80k, hey, you have to start somewhere. :)

The two key characters have now met; can I just move on to the shagging and skip the outlined "couple of years of living together, also, bizarre politics and external condemnation causing them to grow closer" part of the story?

Awwwwww! But that part sounds awesome too! Plus, won't the couple of years living together include shagging? And the external condemnation & bizarre politics--well, surely they could sex it up for some stress relief??

De-aged character starts at 11.

Non-de-aged character (barely legal adult) will be fending him off as long as he can manage it.

I haven't decided how long the "couple" of years is; could be two, could be 3-5. Except I don't think I'm up for writing 5 years of UST.

Ohhhhh I see. 5 years of UST could be v. tedious to write! Lots of skipping ahead methinks...

I worked independently during and beyond the writing session time. I didn't actually write words for a fic, but I did work over my outline of ideas and determined that yes, this is a tale worth telling. ;-) As a result, I have a solid outline for at least the first half of the story, as well as some actual snippets of conversation. Now to actually start writing!

This particular thing I've been working on today was the outline for a Lord of the Rings Big Bang Challenge -- my goal is to write 5,000 words towards it this month. Now that I have my outline settled and know where to start, I have no more excuses -- it's time to actually write!

Excellent!! Sounds like it was time well spent.

I am perpetually in awe of people who do big bangs--I'm a definite short fic writer, so I admire the stamina & plottiness & outlining that's necessary for such a big work. Good luck!
