Discussion: bad days. When you're having a bad day in real life do you ever give your characters a similar situation to deal with?

Although I've done it a few times, I tend not to because I feel like I'm being self-indulgent and passing my woes off on someone else, even with today been tough I don't think I'll be using any of the negativity in my writing.

When I'm having a bad day, I find more often than not, I have to step away from writing altogether. Otherwise I get tempted to go for the "Rocks fall, everybody dies" ending for all my characters.
