It's Wednesday, which means the week is half over already! What kind of a writing day has it been for you today?
- I thought about my fic once or twice
- I wrote
- I did some planning and/or research
- I edited
- I've sent my fic off to my beta
- I posted today!
- I'm taking a break
- I did something else that I'll talk about in a comment
For Discussion: Have you ever killed off a major character in one of your stories? If so, was it planned from the beginning? Something unplanned but that you realized would be a good idea at some point? How did your readers deal with that character's death? Was it obvious to them that it was coming or was it unexpected?

Date: Wednesday, August 28th, 2013 13:18 (UTC)I've never killed off a major character, but I did kill off an important minor character. I hadn't planned it from the beginning, but I saw as I went along that it would be very effective for the story. My readers were appropriately surprised and devastated because he was a very likeable fellow.
Related to killing off characters, I am looking at a situation where a major character in canon is supposed to die, but because my tale is AU, he wouldn't have to. I have always intended for him to die as per canon, but now I'm starting to change my mind. I don't have to decide yet, but the challenge of keeping him alive and how he affects the story afterwards is very appealing, so I'm working it out both ways. We'll see which one I choose when I get there.
I have written the past three days! - and a test

Date: Wednesday, August 28th, 2013 18:04 (UTC)I get upset when characters are killed off in canon so I have never killed anyone off but it could happen and I did consider doing that to Robbie when I was working on Twice Unjust because of something John Michie said in an interview but I changed my mind because it wouldn't have worked in that fic at all.
