Date: Wednesday, November 20th, 2013 14:52 (UTC)I enjoy reading other people's interpretations of characters I love. Often, other writers think of things that I wouldn't. I don't always agree with other interpretations, but I think fandom is richer for having a multitude of versions.

Date: Wednesday, November 20th, 2013 14:55 (UTC)I tend to write about Fiona Glenanne a lot, so of course I'm going to look for a lot of fic involving her! Burn Notice fic is hard to come by, especially now, since a lot of people that were in the fandom in the earlier years have moved on. Alas, fic with Fiona is a mixed bag. I like some of it and hate other fics.

Date: Wednesday, November 20th, 2013 15:03 (UTC)I am cautious about reading other stories about my favorite character, possibly because I don't want my ideas or plans to be influenced -- or I'm afraid to discover someone else already thought of the clever plot point I came up with on my own! On the other hand, I do enjoy other people's interpretations of the character. There are certain authors who I will definitely read if they write about "my" character, while there are a few that I avoid because their interpretation is so far afield I can't really get into it. ;-)

Date: Wednesday, November 20th, 2013 21:02 (UTC)I want to read all the fic about my favourite characters! Even better if I don't have to write what I want to read myself. ;-)

Date: Wednesday, November 20th, 2013 23:05 (UTC)Robbie Ross from Taggart is one of my favourites to write but I tend not to read fic for the fandom because the few times that I tried to he, along with the other characters felt immature and to an extent OOC. There a couple of authors who get him right and I have their works bookmarked, it's just the rest that I avoid.
