WIP Challenge Check-in, Day 28 -- Saturday

It's Saturday and time for the last of this week's check ins! It's also our day for sharing things like snippets, requests for betas, and chatting about our fics in general. To get the ball rolling, here's a longish but appropriate quote for the day:

I feel like I'm looking at my story idea from outer space at the moment, it's that hard to pin down. Hopefully I can get a bit closer over the course of the day and get some idea of how to get past the idea and get some words on the page. Maybe I'll have a snippet to share later in the day.... *hopes*

One thing I plan to do differently in the coming week is to set a specific writing time, limit distractions, and stay with the writing until I have produced something other than research. My Yulefic deadline is Tuesday morning, so I need to make good use of what time I have left!

I wrote 1199 words as of quarter to eight PM, but of course I'm chronically dissatisfied, so I'm angsting about the epilogue I swore I'd finish before the new year. It involves two unlikely friends saying their farewells, and I'm not too good at scenes like that.

I'm also looking for beta(s) for a 7000+ word multichapter fusion fic. I know there aren't a lot of Dragon Age fans in this community but me, but is anyone at all familiar with Jewish fables and folklore? I want to get more than one perspective.

Writing happened! I'm happy with what I have so far on the fics I've been working on today because I've had a lot of disruption this last week with my family been in Scotland. I'm not too sure what my word counts are just now as I'm still typing up, I normally check those when I'm close to finishing.

I'm getting excited about my kidficstory big bang especially with the way I've brought Robbie's son back because I was convinced that it wouldn't work at all. I'm trying to panic less over the drafts deadline which is on Thursday. I know that Taggart is a tiny fandom, there's me and maybe one or two other people in the community familiar with it and if someone (anyone) could have a look at the fic I'd be grateful. It is set post-series so canon/fandom knowledge isn't necessary.

I'll probably come back later and link once I've posted at least one of the one-shots I've been working on today.

For next week I'm just going to try and get as much written as possible, at the moment I only have one appointment in RL and that will be fairly quick so going out for that shouldn't lose me too much time. A lot of my big bang is handwritten and as long as I have 5000 words (or there abouts) on my draft I'll be happy with that.

I'm trying to work on stories for a couple of exchanges and nothing is working. I have an unfinished story (that I absolutely detest) that meets the minimum word count for one of them and I have a pretty solid idea for the other one, but no story. They're both due soon and I'm starting to get really irritated with myself for not having anything finished.

Not much on any writing atm, due to my computer giving me a Blue Screen of Death and any ideas I had in the interim didn't want to commit to paper IRL. Maybe I'll get something down before 2013 ends.
