How is today going for you?
Discussion: favourite fandom to write. Do you have a favourite fandom to write fic for? Is it one that you keep coming back to?
I tend to write for several fandoms at any given time, thankfully, I haven't gotten into anything new recently or rediscovered my love of old favourites, so my options for writing fic are the same.
My favourite fandoms to write are Law & Order original series, although I have written for some of the spin-offs and I prefer the original to the spin-offs because I feel like I have a better understanding of the characters. It's been a while since I wrote anything within the L&O fandom and I'm hoping that my holiday in NYC this month will rekindle the muse for this fandom in a way that re-watching various seasons on iTunes hasn't, as I have a couple of ideas that I’d like to turn into one-shots eventually.
The other fandom is Taggart and I keep coming back to it because I like writing the characters and I know Glasgow quite well with visiting the city on a regular basis. Nearly everything that I’ve written so far is for the Burke era and although I haven't written much fic for the earlier Taggart and Jardine eras of the show, I would like to, it's just finding that one idea that clicks and also making sure that I get the characters right, especially Jim Taggart and Michael Jardine because are both quite tricky to interpret.

Date: Friday, January 3rd, 2014 14:21 (UTC)My favorite fandom to write is Lord of the Rings (and by extenstion, The Hobbit). I have written almost exclusively in this fandom for the last 10+ years. The only other fandom I have ventured into as far as writing goes is Major (anime/manga). I have considered writing Star Trek DS9 at times, but haven't actually taken the plunge.

Date: Friday, January 3rd, 2014 19:37 (UTC)The fandom I've written for the most and always seem to return to, however, is Harry Potter. I've been writing for it for almost 11 years now and I love that there is still new things for me to explore and fall in love with, along with never really getting tired of long favorite characters and pairings.
The one similarity I've noted between my love of the Harry Potter fandom and Homestuck fandom is that they're large with endless fans and endless characters (and endless possibilities!). I think that's why a lot of the fandoms with huge casts remain so popular long after the series comes to an end, most likely. =D
