Greetings on Tuesday! I thought I'd check in with everyone and see how you all are doing with your works in progress and other writing goals -- and hopefully keep myself on track in the bargain!
How's the day going so far for fic?
Discussion question: We're now a week into the new year. Did any of you make New Year's resolutions that involve writing? If so, what are they? What is your plan of action for achieving those goals?
I haven't been writing, but I've been planning my course of action. I've entered several challenges this month that I feel will help motivate me to actually write, rather than just think about writing. As usual at the beginning of the year, I have writing goals -- among other things, I want to write every day. In order to achieve that, I have to limit some of the things I have a tendency to do when I sit down at my computer (like play games!) and I may try using a timer and plan on writing for a set period of time. I think that may help me develop the habit here at the beginning. I had a similar goal last year, and didn't really achieve it, but that was on me and had nothing to do with the goal being unrealistic. Good goals are worth trying again until they work! ;-)

How much time have you spent on your fic today, roughly?

Date: Tuesday, January 7th, 2014 15:57 (UTC)I've resolved to spend the next year focusing on my big WIP rather than doing exchanges and challenges. It's going to be hard to resist because I love exchanges, but I've been working on this story for more than a decade. I'd like to make some serious progress on it. The next chapter needs some world building. I'm probably going to work on the bubble rather than create detailed cultures just for this chapter. I will hope that it doesn't come back to bite me.

Date: Tuesday, January 7th, 2014 16:24 (UTC)One of my resolutions this year was to write at least 500 words daily for my main WIP so I can finally finish it. So far I've managed at least that much each day, and sometimes quite a bit more. I don't know how well I'll do when my next semester at school starts, but so far I'm pretty pleased with my progress.

Date: Wednesday, January 8th, 2014 20:10 (UTC)I have been writing my first fic for flashworks and am working on the second. I feel all organised right now, but no doubt the year will throw a spanner in the works at some point ;)
