Discussion: favourite and least favourite parts of the process. When it comes to your writing do you have a favourite part? A least favourite part? Is it all equally good and bad?

My favourite part is going from the original ideas that come from paying far too much attention to my canon(s) and seeing them come to fruition, even when it isn't as I had initially envisioned. My least favourite part is definitely editing and I've recently had a few "argh" moments with it, especially the ones I'm doing for my big bang fic for [community profile] kidficstory which is currently close to 9000 words and complete.

I pretty much never get any writing done on Thursday. I've got too much going on. I will be thinking about my story, and I may try taking a notebook with me to my daughter's appointment.

Yesterday, I took more world building notes. I don't know if I'll use what I've come up with, but I now know something about all of the planets involved.

I haven't written today, but I hope to later. However, I have been able to write several days this week, and even finished a short tale and posted it. \o/

I love research, so my favorite part is adding all the background to the original idea to see if it works, and if it doesn't work as originally envisioned, then my next favorite part is figuring out a way to make it work somehow! My least favorite part is trying to get back into a story that has been ignored for awhile, and also writing to a specific length (as for a prompt for a challenge). I can manage word counts okay, but sometimes it's frustrating when my story wants to be short and I need to make it long (or vice versa).

I actually really enjoy getting a drabble to exactly 100, 150, or 200 words. (Less so when I realise afterwards that Word counts dashes as words, argh.) I find the end result is often better, because I've had to think really hard about my phrasing. I like the actual writing too, of course. :~)

I hate posting stuff though. Once in my journal is fine, but other places is just a drag. And as I always post my fics to AO3 as well, and often to [livejournal.com profile] crossovers100 as well, I usually have to post fics more than once.

That being said, I have now posted (and written?) my first fic for one and a half years. I love being able to write other things than my thesis! ♥
