[personal profile] lea_hazel posting in [community profile] writethisfanfic
* First, my sincere apologies for the slip in posting schedule. I found this sitting in drafts this morning.

How did your writing go today? Did you...

  • ...write?

  • ...edit/proofread?

  • ...send to beta?

  • ...post/cross-post?

  • ...research/refresh canon?

  • ...plan/outline?

  • ...take a well-deserved rest?

  • ...do life things?

Daily discussion question: Do you juggle multiple WIPs? If so, how and when do you switch between them? Does it depend on your mood, or do you try to give each story its fair share of time?

I wrote yesterday and will be writing today too as soon as I've finished sorting out some things in RL. Last night I refreshed canon too so that I pinpoint the exact things that I need to approach differently for my [community profile] cottoncandy_bingo round two prompts. I may yet regret this canon divergence idea.

I tend not to have too many WIPs at any one time but when I'm working on something that I know will be bigger than 5K then I'll sometimes switch and work on another smaller project. It all depends on whether there are any external (mainly RL) time constraints rather than my mood and if it's for a challenge I try to remember to make notes of the deadlines on my phone and in my diary or I'll forget all about it.

I wrote and researched. I plan to post another work to the Porn Battle today.

I've tried juggling many WIPs, but I can't handle it. I have to focus on one work at a time.

I wrote and edited a bit yesterday.

I have multiple WIP on my hard drive, but I try to focus on one at a time when it comes to writing. If I divide up my efforts too much, nothing gets finished. The new WIP come about when I'm blocked on something and need to write something else for a little while. Right now, I'm trying to pick up old WIP rather than start new ones when I need to write something different.

I am juggling several WIPs. None of them get fair treatment at the moment -- they are all stalled! The longest one gets the most love, it's the one I started first; but I do jump around and work on whichever one I feel inspired to work on -- or whichever one makes me feel the most guilty at the moment. All but one started out as short little things that grew. I feel like I should work at finishing the shorter ones so that I can devote all my time to the main one. Except for one that is totally a different fandom, they are all related to one another, so it often feels like I am working on the same story. I actually need to finish one so I can bring a couple of the characters from it over into my longer one when the time comes.
