Hello on Thursday! What kind of a writing day has it been for you?
  • I thought about my fic once or twice
  • I wrote
  • I did some planning and/or research
  • I edited
  • I've sent my fic off to my beta
  • I posted today!
  • I'm taking a break
  • I did something else that I'll talk about in a comment
For Discussion: How do you keep track of characters and plot lines?

I'm having a slow start to my day, but I plan on finishing up a challenge fic or two today.  As for keeping track of things, I'm a big fan of outlines which include a chronology, lists of characters and the various plot lines that are in progress.  It's still a bit of a mess sometimes as a couple of my WIPs are getting unwieldy, but my outline helps me sort things out.  Once or twice I had to repair something important I forgot to mention in the proper place through the use of flashbacks, because I forgot to include the plot point in the outline!

It's been a good day so far in that I've finished my new article for SIAD and nearly finished the pre-canon, pre-series bullying fic I was working on yesterday, hopefully I can get the fic posted either tonight or tomorrow.

For long fics I tend to keep a file with fic notes and refer to that as and when I need to, I also have a set of handwritten notes too in case I have a computer issue. For short fics I just refer to the original handwritten outline and any canon points I wanted to use.

I wrote. I did really well yesterday, but, ha, I'm far from completing shipswap yet.

I review canon and/or my fic as needed; I don't use a really detailed outline.

Managed to write a little bit, not much, but a great big improvement over the month overall.

I wrote. I intended to work on at least two different projects, but I worked on one and did well, so I'm pleased. Now I have to let the draft lie before I reread it.
