Hello on Thursday! What kind of a writing day has it been for you?
- I thought about my fic once or twice
- I wrote
- I did some planning and/or research
- I edited
- I've sent my fic off to my beta
- I posted today!
- I'm taking a break
- I did something else that I'll talk about in a comment
For Discussion: How do you keep track of characters and plot lines?
I'm having a slow start to my day, but I plan on finishing up a challenge fic or two today. As for keeping track of things, I'm a big fan of outlines which include a chronology, lists of characters and the various plot lines that are in progress. It's still a bit of a mess sometimes as a couple of my WIPs are getting unwieldy, but my outline helps me sort things out. Once or twice I had to repair something important I forgot to mention in the proper place through the use of flashbacks, because I forgot to include the plot point in the outline!

Date: Thursday, February 27th, 2014 15:54 (UTC)For long fics I tend to keep a file with fic notes and refer to that as and when I need to, I also have a set of handwritten notes too in case I have a computer issue. For short fics I just refer to the original handwritten outline and any canon points I wanted to use.
