Discussion: I've already done that. Do you ever find that you revisit certain themes in your writing? Do you try to avoid reusing themes you've already written?

I generally write episode tags, missing scenes and post-canon fic so it isn't often that I find recurring themes in my writing, although last night I started outlining a fic and realised that it was identicial to something that I wrote and posted over a year ago and rather than scrapping the idea entirely I kept the missing scene aspect and focused on something else that canon never dealt with in the episode that I'm working with.

Life is being annoying and keeping me from working on my writing. :-/

I tend to do gap-fillers and AU, so I don't run into the reusing issue too often. However, I have actually reused some things a few times on purpose, though I do change them up a bit to fit the prompt or the occasion. I have also found myself writing something and then realized I already did that and just forgot -- that's the problem with having a really long WIP that has been going on for long enough that I forget what I've done already if I don't keep rereading it.
