Discussion: injuries. When your characters get injured do you use injuries you've had? or do you research something specific?

Normally when my characters get injured it happens in canon so I only have to add small amounts of information in my fic and I don't think I've ever given a character an injury that I've had. Although I did have to do some research for non-life threatening injuries sustained in a hit and run for my [community profile] unconventionalcourtship fic and there are far too many options to go with so I've got two small lists with ones that possible and ones that aren't.

Still too much life going on to get any writing done at the moment!

Some of the wounding my characters get is in canon, so I just embellish it a bit. However, when I'm doing "original wounding," I do use injuries I've had when I can -- such as a concussion, or not being able to breath, that sort of thing.
