How's the writing going for you today?
Discussion: writing friends. Do you have friends who you can talk about your fic and progress to? Do you prefer to just write and keep your progress to yourself? Something inbetween?
When I was involved with The X-Files fandom I often talked about my fic with one my off-line friends, who was also involved in the fandom and I enjoyed it because there was no pressure to finish any of the ideas that we discussed and when I was on LJ I used to throw ideas to my f-list when I was uncertain about an idea but I stopped doing that as I found that I ended up with a lot of unfinished fic in my notebook and on my computer. Since I've been using DW, I haven't really sought out writing friends and that is because I want to try and keep posts about my fannish endeavours and private life separate.

I would love to have more actively writing friends
Date: Tuesday, May 20th, 2014 01:36 (UTC)On the other hand, with my horrible finishing track record and some ancient history, I don't broadcast that I'm writing either, in most of my main fandom's circles.
I've become entrenched in a deep groove, using ancient history and fear of rejection as excuses.
The truth is that no one but me cares, which makes it all silly, doesn't it? Something to keep reminding myself.
So, yes, I do want more actively writing friends, especially ones who will kick my tailbone when I start being chicken and feeling sorry for myself.

One thing that put me off posting new fic for a while was getting flamed in some of my fandoms. Even now, years later, I still get this mental freeze when I'm ready to post new work because that fear of being flamed altohugh irrational, it's still there in the back of my mind.
It isn't silly and the main this is that you care about your projects and your writing makes you happy.
