Discussion: new challenges. When you want to do a new challenge, where you do look? DW, LJ, AO3, elsewhere? Ask your f-list/circle for prompts? Something else?

When I feel like I need a new challenge I only look for the ones that are hosted and running DW but it isn't easy as a lot of those that advertised are nearly always on LJ and I quit using it years ago. I did try a prompt meme on AO3 a while back but I wasn't keen on it because there was a time constraint which wasn't actually mentioned anywhere in the information. I tend not to ask my f-list for prompts because it's a fairly quiet place and none of my friends write fic.

I do a lot of fic exchanges. I'm still on LJ as well as DW, so that's not a barrier to me. I have also asked friends for prompts, but I've almost never completed the fics I started for those prompts. I do better when I have a deadline and a specific recipient. I'm better able to focus on my writing then.
