Sorry I missed yesterday's post, I didn't get home from work until really late. How is the writing going today?

Discussion: resources. Do you have favourite programs for writing? Websites? Assistive technology?

I mainly use LibreOffice for writing because it's compatible with TextHelp and is also very easy to customise the background colour and fonts as well as the page zoom. I also use TheSage dictionary that sits idling in the taskbar until it's needed. As well as TextHelp I also have and use EduApps which I got the second time I went to university and that one is free.

I don't use a lot of writing websites as I often have other things to attend to when I'm online but I know that some of you do and find them useful. The one I use quite a lot has a handy word count tracker which is good for high word count, long term projects. It can be customised by changing the colour bar and of course inputting your own word counts.

I'm going to work on something shortly, while I have some free time before the day gets going.

My favorite writing resource is Jarte -- I love being being able to use tabs to have several documents open at the same time, and it has a built in word count tracker. It also gives me the ability to change the background color to something more restful for my eyes. In addition to Jarte, I also sometimes use Q10 -- a program that is for straight typing without distractions. Both of these programs are portable on my flash drive.

The website I use a lot is Thesaurus.com and the Online Etymology Dictionary. I also frequently check online wikis and reference sites that are tied to my fandoms.

Oh goodie, I've been wondering about where to grab a decent counter, thanks! I'm a little confused about how one would go about updating the word count though. Go back to the site and generate a new one, then paste the counter code back in again? The code looks like straight-up HTML, and I could probably change the word count... but how does the bar work? Sorry if I'm having a dumb moment...

Ah okay, got it, thanks. :) And good to know that it works in a journal entry as well - I was wondering about that.
