August sign ups

Quick mod note: I am on holiday next month from the 19th to the 31st and will be unavailable to do the check ins on the weeks of 17th to 23rd and 24th to 30th so if anyone can do those weeks it will be a great help and very much appreciated too. Thanks.

It's time to sign up for the August WIP challenge!

Some people join the challenge midmonth, or comment on check-in posts without signing up, which is fine -- I'm glad there's a way for the challenge to be useful in a variety of ways.

But for those of you who find the commitment of signing up useful, please leave a comment with the below information.

Signups will be open until the end of July.

• Level of challenge: 1 chapter, 1000 words, 1 fic finished, whatever you like
  
• Fandom(s) involved: if you know at this point
  
• What you're looking for from the challenge: this could be as vague or specific as you like: someone to be accountable to, someone to remind you to write, someone to bounce ideas off, etc.
  
• What you could offer other participants yourself: ditto!
  
• How people should contact you: DW message, e-mail, IM etc.
  
• Time zone: useful for seeing who might be up for a writing session at a time convenient to you

I couldn't continue to run this challenge without assistance with the daily check-in posts. Many thanks to everyone who's helped with the check-ins before!

Please let me know if you'd be interested in helping out. A week per person would be ideal (I usually assign weeks running Sunday-Saturday just for consistency). I'm happy to help come up with suggestions for discussion topics (& Friday or Saturday is usually the general chat/snippet/beta-seeking etc. post).

I can do the week of the 24th through the 30th without any problems. There's a week earlier in the month that I can't do, but I'm not sure which week it is. It's either the week of the 10th-16th or the 17th-23rd.

I've put the week in my iCal with e-mail reminders so that I don't forget to post. I should be good to go.

Will you be available to do the sign up post for September? Is that something you could use help with?

I could use some help with the sign ups because I normally do them on the 20th. I can send the text file with the template that I use if it helps, the only thing you'd have to do is change is the two marked 'month' to September and August.

Level of challenge: I've not been accomplishing any of my writing goals, but they are still goals I want to push toward, so I shall share the same ones I shared last month -- 1) finish 3 overdue challenge fics; 2) add a chapter to at least one of my ongoing (neglected) WIPs; 3) finish my Major WIP.

Fandom(s) involved: Lord of the Rings, Major (anime/manga)

What you're looking for from the challenge: Encouragement to keep trying to get writing time in, and to also hang in there and finish something!

What you could offer other participants yourself: The same, as well as encouragement through participating in weekly check-ins.

How people should contact you: DW PM

Time zone: USA Central Daylight

ETA: As I replied elsewhere, I can do check-ins the week of 17 - 23 August, and if it goes unclaimed, the previous week as well, 10 - 16 August.
