Date: Monday, December 1st, 2014 14:56 (UTC)I do have trouble going back to writing after dealing with RL; I let time pass before I can get into my groove again.

Date: Monday, December 1st, 2014 17:51 (UTC)In the past I've got back to writing by using drabbles, ficlets, anything short enough to be crap really and then going to the longer fics. Although that isn't working too well for me just now.

Date: Monday, December 1st, 2014 19:14 (UTC)Getting back to writing is a challenge. I often need an external push like a deadline or a writing buddy to get myself moving. It's so easy to coast along and not do anything (or to do anything besides writing).

Date: Tuesday, December 2nd, 2014 02:14 (UTC)Started by prewriting today. (I did this by hand on a beat-up notepad I keep for the purpose; forgot just how helpful that could be.) Have a clear idea of where I want the story to go, and outlining the scenes helped show me what material I could add to flesh things out. Going to try and do a (brief) prologue tomorrow to get that moving.
Discussion: Well, that's kind of why I'm here. I'm trying to get my groove back after a period of multiple job changes, all of them disruptive to the way I used to write. (I had the same job for a long time, so I got used to having my Writing Time ™ pretty much at the same time, all the time.) I'm also in a long-running contest against myself to try and recapture all the energy I used to have when I first really got into fanfic and could do thousands of words at a stretch; even if I never get back there, I can at least try and re-form the habits that made it possible.
