[personal profile] linaewen posting in [community profile] writethisfanfic
Hello on Tuesday!  What kind of a writing day has it been today?
  • I thought about my fic once or twice
  • I wrote
  • I did some planning and/or research
  • I edited
  • I've sent my fic off to my beta
  • I posted today!
  • I'm taking a break
  • I did something else that I'll talk about in a comment
For Discussion: How do you feel about fixed length fics -- drabbles, double drabbles, that sort of thing?  Do you write them?  Are they hard for you to write, or easy?

I didn't used to like these, as I found it difficult to limit what I wanted to say to a specific word count -- but I am getting better at doing them now.  They are actually a helpful way for me to get back into writing after a long break (see Monday's discussion), because they are short but still require thought and a bit of work to write.

Still working on a new draft.

I write drabbles sometimes. They're easy to write, but hard to master (especially when you're actually paying attention to the length of the drabble).

Option #1 today. I wanted to write, but ended up being really, really tired, so ... I thought about what to write when I do write. Got to avoid having too many days like this.

Discussion: Drabbling has been a real help in keeping me in practice, to be honest. It's also taught me a lot about being more economical with my words.
