Hello on Friday!  What kind of a writing day has it been today?
  • I thought about my fic once or twice
  • I wrote
  • I did some planning and/or research
  • I edited
  • I've sent my fic off to my beta
  • I posted today!
  • I'm taking a break
  • I did something else that I'll talk about in a comment
For Discussion:  Your first-ever fic that you let other people see -- is is posted somewhere/do you still have it?  Do you ever reread it?  How do you think it stands up to your more recent writing?

My first ever public fic is posted in an archive that has limited access.  It stands up well to my current writing, but as I have reread it, I see some errors in the plot that I want to fix.  I have begun (slowly) to rewrite portions of it to fix those errors and to also bring it into line with my later writing, all of which is actually connected.  It was that first story that got me inspired to write later stories, that could actually be considered sequels to that first one.  Once it is rewritten, I plan to repost it in a couple of new places.

I'll definitely be Option 1-ing it today. I have very little time for writing on Fridays due to an extra-long work shift, but I did get a bit done this morning. Only a bit, though.

Discussion: My first 'fic that anybody saw almost predates the Internet. I still have a hard copy around here somewhere, though the 5.25" floppy disk that originally had it on there has long since ceased to be viable. I'll have to see if I can dig it up at some point.

Posted again! Still a secret.

This is the first fic I've posted to AO3: http://archiveofourown.org/works/155556

Haven't read it in a while, since I've stopped reading and writing in Gossip Girl fandom. In comparison to what I'm doing now, I think that fic wouldn't stand up.

I've done a little writing today and hope to do more (I need to do more. The Yuletide deadline is only two weeks away).

My first publicly published fic was the first chapter of Rheotaxis. I'm still working on that epic, and it's posted both on my website and on AO3. I don't know when I'll finish it because I'm currently stuck (anybody willing to discuss world building as a mechanism for character growth, let me know. I've got a world building chapter that's kind of been promised by stuff that's gone before, but I can't find a use for it from the point of view of either advancing the plot or developing the characters).

I did reread that first chapter relatively recently, and I think it stands up pretty well. I'd like it a lot if I hadn't written it. Having written it makes me much more critical of it and much less likely to simply fall into the story.

The first fic I wrote isn't online so I'm certain it wouldn't stand up now. The first fic I did post is here: http://archiveofourown.org/works/1816831 and it isn't too bad but I'm not involved with X-Files fandom anymore. I re-read last year when I cross posted all of my old fic to AO3.

I wrote earlier today as I had a long space between clients and am getting some more done before bedtime.
