Discussion: extra time. When you have extra time do you write? Do you attend to other things?

I unexpectedly had the day off today because one of my regular clients cancelled their visit and I got some writing done this morning and hopefully can do some more when I get home too. I also got a couple of things done that I've been putting off recently.

I had some extra free time yesterday, and I wasted it playing mindless games on my computer. I actually thought about writing, but I couldn't get my brain in gear for it. Lately, my free time comes after a long day of being busy, so I tend to use it just to recuperate -- or work on other things that have built up. Not a good recipe for making progress with my fic! It works better if I have a whole day free and then I can prioritize how I will use it, making sure there is time for writing. It always helps if I can do my writing first in the day, which seems to only work when I don't have to be anywhere else that day.

No extra time today, that's for sure. Fridays are double shifts at work for me, as I think I said last Friday.

And I'll admit that extra time, when it happens, tends to get sucked up by video games, but that's what happens when you're a video game 'ficcer, right?
