Have you ever written a story inspired by a picture (drawing/painting/photograph) or a song or a poem? Either with the picture or song or poem as the source canon or with it sparking something in another canon.
I haven't. I don't seem to have the right sort of imagination to take inspiration from a painting or photograph. Songs or poems might work for me, but I've never tried it. I do make playlists for working on longer fics, if that counts. I don't for shorter works because, by the time I know what the right feel is for the story, the story's done.
