It's time to sign up for the February WIP challenge!

Some people join the challenge midmonth, or comment on check-in posts without signing up, which is fine -- I'm glad there's a way for the challenge to be useful in a variety of ways.

But for those of you who find the commitment of signing up useful, please leave a comment with the below information.

Signups will be open until the end of January.

• Level of challenge: 1 chapter, 1000 words, 1 fic finished, whatever you like
  
• Fandom(s) involved: if you know at this point
  
• What you're looking for from the challenge: this could be as vague or specific as you like: someone to be accountable to, someone to remind you to write, someone to bounce ideas off, etc.
  
• What you could offer other participants yourself: ditto!
  
• How people should contact you: DW message, e-mail, IM etc.
  
• Time zone: useful for seeing who might be up for a writing session at a time convenient to you

I couldn't continue to run this challenge without assistance with the daily check-in posts. Many thanks to everyone who's helped with the check-ins before!

Please let me know if you'd be interested in helping out. A week per person would be ideal (I usually assign weeks running Sunday-Saturday just for consistency). I'm happy to help come up with suggestions for discussion topics (& Friday or Saturday is usually the general chat/snippet/beta-seeking etc. post).

Level of challenge: I've had such an unusual year so far, I hardly know which end is up. My writing has suffered from it even more than it already was suffering, so I'm going to keep my level of challenge low -- one new chapter added to any of my neglected WIPs will make me happy in February!

Fandom(s) involved: Depending on the WIP, Lord of the Rings, Major (anime/manga)

What you're looking for from the challenge: Encouragement to keep trying, accountability

What you could offer other participants yourself: The same, plus encouragement via a week of check-in posts.

Level of challenge: Shipswap is happening over at AO3, so that's a thing, but I'll keep on with Fan Flashworks and Fic Promptly (and the usual panoply of bingo challenges).

Fandom(s) involved: Good question. Probably quite a few.

What you're looking for from the challenge: Just keeping me on task. That helps a lot, especially when real life gets busy.

What you could offer other participants yourself: I'm happy to offer encouragement. I'd love to do writing sprints.

How people should contact you: PM is best. I can often be found in the Yuletide IRC.

Time zone: Eastern. I'm mostly free between about 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. and then between 3 p.m. and about 10 p.m. with more distractions.

I'm happy to do a week of check ins. I should be able to do any week and don't have a preference.

I did wonder one thing about check ins-- I keep skipping over them because they come up before I know what sort of writing (if any) I've done that day. Would it make sense to have each day's check in ask about how the day before went? That is, Sunday's post asks about Saturday's progress, and Monday's post asks about Sunday's.

This is something I've dealt with, as well. I'll add sharing about the day before as an option to my check in posts this week, hopefully it will cover all the bases, no matter what time of day people are writing.

With the check ins, its entirely up to you what to include and if you want to include a question about the previous day then that's fine.

Level of challenge: Finish the NEW AND IMPROVED outline for my original novel, and a few prompts on a stale old bingo card (way past the deadline, but it's never too late for peace of mind).

Fandom(s) involved: We'll see, but Princess Tutu and Yu-Gi-Oh are likely to come up (because they always do).

What you're looking for from the challenge: Soaking in the writing environment, I suppose.

What you could offer other participants yourself: My delightful company, and a week of check-ins if you need me.
