WIP Challenge Check-in, Day 25 -- Sunday

Greetings on the first day of the last week of our January WIP Challenge!  I'm serving as your cheerleader this week.

What kind of a writing day has it been today?  Or, if you haven't gotten down to writing yet, how did it go yesterday?

•     I did some planning and/or research
•     I edited
•     I've sent my fic off to my beta
•     I posted today!
•     I'm taking a break
•     I did something else that I'll talk about in a comment

For Discussion:  How do you feel about deadlines?  Do they help you stay focused on your writing, or do they hinder more than they help?

I've had an exceedingly unusual and upsetting month so far, so I'm way off track with everything, including writing.  Things are settling now, though, so I'm hoping to get back into a good routine in the coming days.  Deadlines help me with that to a large extent.  Even when things are going well, I have a tendency to procrastinate, so if there is a deadline with a date on something, it helps me stay on track.  That said, I have a deadline to meet this weekend for a couple of challenge stories that missed their original deadlines!

I've got a day off from work today, so I don't see a whole lot of writing getting done, though I'm in the midst of organizing a possible challenge here on DW, so I suppose that counts in an indirect way.

Deadlines and I have a problematic relationship, but we are in counseling, as it were. As time has gone on, I've gotten better at sticking to them, especially as I've gotten the hang of AO3 and its automated ways of handling them. (I don't like defaulting. At all.)

I wrote about a thousand words yesterday. It's all PWP which is something I don't normally do, and I fear it's dreadfully out of character (I can't tell, and I don't have a canon beta. Anybody know Weiss Kreuz, Gluhen era?). It's not yet noon here, so I have no idea yet what sort of day today will be. An LJ friend put up a challenge to complete some sort of fanwork over the weekend, and I'd really like to finish this for that, but I don't know if I'll be able to. I'm not sure how much more there is yet to write.

I like having a deadline. I'm much, much more likely to finish what I'm working on when I have a deadline.
