Hello on Wednesday!  Our week is half over already!  What kind of a writing day has it been today?  Or, if you haven't gotten down to writing yet, how did it go yesterday?
  •     I thought about my fic once or twice
  •     I wrote
  •     I did some planning and/or research
  •     I edited
  •     I've sent my fic off to my beta
  •     I posted today!
  •     I'm taking a break
  •     I did something else that I'll talk about in a comment
For Discussion:  What kind of tools do you use to help you find the right word when you are writing?  When you can't think of the right word, do you stop writing and search for it, or do you keep going and come back to it later?

I spent a good amount of time planning yesterday, and I now have a clear idea of where I want to go with several short stories I am working on.  I hope to keep working on them this morning before the rest of the day actually kicks in.  Maybe I'll get some actual writing done!  As far as searching for just the right word goes, I make heavy use of an online thesaurus, as well as the Online Etymology Dictionary.  I tend to look up words as I go, but I will also leave a placeholder for a word if it proves elusive and come back to it when I am doing a more thorough round of editing.  This is also a good time to make sure I'm not overusing a certain word, and that's when the thesaurus again comes in handy.

Write a bit more for 'Fic Promptly. Three for three, this week, and that's good, though I seem to be doing a lot of humorous bits.

I'm pretty good about word choice, most of the time, but I can be repetitious if I'm not careful, so, just in case, I've got my tried-and-true Roget's International handy.

Depends how close it is to the tip of my tongue. I'll try a thesaurus but if the right word doesn't jump out at me, I put the closest almost-right word in brackets and move on. It almost always comes to me in a few paragraphs, or at the latest in editing, though there have been a few that I've left for betas for help.
