WIP Challenge Check-in, Day 26 -- Thursday

Hello on Thursday! How has your writing has been going today -- or yesterday if you haven't gotten started yet today?

• I've sent my fic off to my beta
• I posted today!
• I'm taking a break
• I did something else that I'll talk about in a comment

For Discussion:  Does the size of the fandom you are in affect your writing?  Does it give you greater freedom or more restriction in what you are able to do as you write?

I am not writing as yet today, nor did I write yesterday, but I am looking at prompts for a March challenge, trying to decide how much I want to get involved -- for future writing!

I write in two fandoms -- one is huge and one is very small. I feel like I have freedom in both; in the huge one, there is a lot out there for research purposes as well as the freedom to write just about anything, as the world is very well established. With the small one, it is somewhat restrictive in that I feel I have to work harder to get my facts right and do very well at writing, because the few number of works for that fandom makes whatever you post an instant classic! So I do feel the responsibility -- but it's also freeing because you know what you are writing is new (even if it will only be read by the few fans).

So far, holding up on my challenges, and I've got another short fill to do today.

LOL, all of my fandoms are small fandoms. Even the biggest video game fandoms barely qualify for the "Not Prime Time" challenge here on DW (except for Final Fantasy VII, which really is big for some reason, even almost two decades later). But most of those fandoms give me all the freedom I want ... because there are often no other writers in them.
