This last week has been spring break for my daughter, so I've been fairly distracted in terms of writing, even though she's perfectly capable of entertaining herself. I find it harder to write when she's around. What do you do when life makes writing harder? Do you push through and write regardless? Do you take a break and hope that things get better? Something else?
I've tried both approaches. I'm not sure which is better for me. Well, if I have a deadline, pushing through is absolutely necessary. I just don't necessarily do my best writing then (the story of mine I like least was finished, just before deadline, while I had strep and a stomach bug. I got it done, but I've never been pleased with it). Today, I've got three kids (two of them aren't mine), and they're all playing games in the living room. I can't readily leave because I'm not supposed to put weight on one of my feet. I kind of suspect that I won't get much writing done today.
