-Need someone to hold your hand? Cheerlead for you? Advice? Someone to kick your @$$ to get motivated? Something along those lines. I’m sure I or any of your fellow writers will help where they can because we know the feeling. ;)

Well, I've gone and signed up for a 50,000-word writing challenge for May, and promptly had the two origfic ideas that'd been noodling around in my brain conflate themselves into A Thing What I Want To Write! So there's that.

Now to find a kennel for my rhinoceros-like Inner Editor... (seriously, I'm an editor first and a writer second. WHAT WAS I THINKING. This is going to be interesting.)

OTOH, May 2 will be the first time I've had a school year officially end since 1999 (IIRC) - TIME TO PARTAY, yes! ;D

It hurts to cut out scenes but that's editing and there's stuff in there I'm not sure of - better safe than sorry.

I know it hurts (one of my professors used to call cutting scenes "killing your babies" >.<;;;) but think of the end product! :D

The end prodect is half the length of the starting product, but at least it has half the complications - I think its stronger like that. Cut stuff is in competition with the beginning: weird stuff happens in both and back to back its a bit much. Unfortunately I needed to see both scenes written out to understand the effect it gives.
Still, Ive virtuaaly enough for another fic with the cut offs, just not for tonight.

I fool myself by cut&pasting those scenes into a scratch file and thinking of it as "temporarily move them just to see how the result looks." It's easier if I know I can paste them back in any time. :)

Had some lovely time w/my fic & the comments my betas gave me. I think I am nearly there--there were a couple of bits where the wording still isn't right, but I put in rough approximations of what needs to be there, & maybe tomorrow when I'm not super tired I'll be able to rephrase them.

I didn't write anything new today, but that's deliberate: I always have limited fic energy on Fridays (I'm always beat down by the end of the week!) so wanted to save it for editing.

So excited to be nearly done w/the fic!

Well, I haven't been checking in regularly, but my goal was 5k per week (20k for the month, gasp!). Week one - 3k, week two, 1.5k, so not so good. But 2k today - in the wrong fandom, but who cares? - and three more days of long weekend to go. There is hope!
