Discussion: disruptions. Can you write when you have things disrupting your preferred work space?

I have contractors in today to start the renovation work on my kitchen and they're likely to be here for two to three weeks and so far I'm having problems concentrating with the noise. Hopefully I can a little something (anything) done when they're not here.

No, it drives me nuts, but that's why I've got multiple workspaces due to most of my writing instruments being portable. (Tablets and Bluetooth keyboards? Godsends.)

today, like yesterday, was spent dealing with poor health, and finishing a uni assignment (on which I wrote Quite A Few Words).

I can't write when there are disruptions. Every disruption causes me to get up and move around, find a drink, have a snack, and so forth. If I can get a quiet half hour where I don't get up, I can some times write more than I do in a whole day of dealing with co-workers and family.

The only writing I did today was to fix a story that had a bad link -- thankfully, a reader called my attention to it! Hoping against hope for some time away from disruptions this weekend.

Disruptions are definitely disruptive. If I can get started writing, then I can tune them out to some extent, but if I am disrupted during my attempts to focus, then that's the end of my writing opportunity.

I'm aaaalmost finished with a kinkmeme fill (it's become...a bit longer than I intended)--I'm working over the weekend, but hopefully I'll have enough time to finish and clean it up by Monday.

It's very easy for me to get distracted even by very small things so uh, I don't do to well in disruptive environments. ^^;
