2. What was the goal you set for today and did you meet it?

3. What are the things you feel really confident about with your fic? The things that you're not feeling so confident about?

4. What inspires you to write? What kind of music do you listen to? Is there a certain room where you write the best? Do you carry around a notebook and jot down ideas? Tell us the things that inspire you / the quirky writing habits you have! :)

Weekly Snippet/Beta/Chat:

-Update us on your progress this week!

-Post a snippet of a piece you're proud of! (Or a snippet that is just BOTHERING you and you JUST CAN'T get it to sound write, maybe some of the illustrious writers on here can help?)

You can totally do it! You write a lot! Good luck w/that 7k for today. & hopefully as you write more of the story, some ways to resolve the loose ends will present themselves.

Also, YAY for ideas coming to you while you're out & about. Sometimes--at the risk of sounding totally ridic--I feel like the more I tell my creative brain that I'm listening, the more it's willing to tell me things. Sounds like you've gotten to that point for sure!

Editing continues! I had a minor hiccup when I tried to edit earlier today--hence my query about online word processors--but tonight I've managed to... I think... finish my edits! It will just need some checking over tomorrow when my mind is fresh. Oh yeah, & a title. *headdesk* I have such trouble w/them.

Reading fic inspires me to write fic, but also having people to discuss canon intensely w/! I've been really psyched that the discussion in [community profile] natsumeyuujinchou has been so great, b/c it does make the fic ideas come whispering. I've also been walking to work a few days a week recently, & I try to think about my fic while I do it. I think it helps!

I started fiddling w/writing or character playlists after the music post, but I haven't finished any. I think I tend to do best, still, w/whatever randomness iTunes gives me.

& my snippet:

Tanuma once heard that the spirits were more active on summer nights. Like humans, he'd thought at the time. We like warmth and spending time under the stars with our friends as well.

The season had lingered; though they were well into the time when summer should've acquiesced to autumn, the temperatures remained warm. Everyone was sleepy in the stuffy classrooms.

And then, suddenly, irrevocably, like a glass knocked off a table, it was autumn. Not cold, not yet, but there was an edge to the air, and traces of other, more vivid colors on the green leaves.

The spirits might give Natsume a little more rest now. Maybe in this, too, they weren't so different from humans, Tanuma thought; did they also like to slow down and stay cozy during the cold, dark months?

A week went by, full of wind-tousled hair and the faintest of shivers on the way to school. The sun blazed: light but not much heat. "Picnic," Tanuma said to Natsume on Friday as they were leaving school.

Natsume blinked at him.

"This weekend," Tanuma clarified. "Before it gets too cold, wouldn't you like to have one last picnic outside?"
Natsume didn't say anything.

"Why don't we go tomorrow afternoon?" Tanuma persisted.

How can he still look at me as if I'm going to yell at him? Or as if he's waiting for me to say it's all a joke? It made Tanuma's chest ache.

After another moment, Natsume said at last, “Okay. What time?”

1. I managed to write the first 150 words of the fic that has been giving me gripes this month. I've also got a better idea of where I am taking it.

2. Um, I've not checked in for a wee while so I'm considering checking in and words written a success. Tomorrow I would like to have written at least 200 words and to check in again.

3. I'm feeling confident about actually finishing the two fics now. Of course, I'm not too confident on how good they'll be at the minute. For one fic, I'm not confident about some of the small details which I know I'm going to have to research but since they are small details, it's going to have to be a pain in the backside.

4. I generally always have some sort of pad of paper in my bag at all times. I mainly have bad habits when it comes to writing so I'll not share.

Weekly:
It's been a bit of a bad week for fic in general but I've managed about 600 words so far. Hoping to manage more on Sunday though.

Snippet

Elizabeth finished with the zip on her tac vest as Ronan jumped down the steps to join them in front of the gate. "So what's the deal?"

Elizabeth smiled slightly, "Well if you had been awake during the briefing…" She teased. Ronan smirked back. "Rodney was whining. I don’t listen then."

Elizabeth bit her lip to stop laughing. "The MALP found an Ancient facility on a planet that's not in the database. There are some surrounding structures we haven't seen before so we're checking it out." Ronan nodded.

"Can't see what Shepard was worked up about."

She smiled wryly. "I think he was thinking of his own experiences." Ronan grinned widely and they turned to see John standing in her own traditional position. She waved as the gate activated before turning back to see Lorne head through the gate, Coughlin, Reed and Radek following him through. She stepped though, Ronan a step behind.

I've finished my redlining! I can type up and hopefully send to beta on Monday!

Technically all I've written today are things like 'Rewrite' and 'insert transition paragraph here'... Oh! And this:

"I make a habit of not panicking when there are children around."

I finished editing my remix fic, which is just as well since the deadline is tommorrow. My check -ins here got shorter and shorter as I got into deeper water with it.

It was fairly terrible in the end as I realised that I couldn't rework everthing in time for the deadline and had to cut down - thanks for your words of encouragement.

Also, I've been without news from my betas for three days. I wonder if that the first scene I sent them is so terrible that they ran away^^

Anyway, I would be very grateful to have some (non fandom specific) help, if someone can look me over 2.5k before tommorrow night (Sat night GMT) for sensible paragraph breaks and English usage. The fic is R rated with allusions to MxM. Knowledge of Hikaru no Go would be a bonus but is not essential.

My mail is (remove spaces): lacygrey4BG @ gmail.com

please drop me a line if you think you can help.

Today I finally got back into it, whew! I mostly did editing, but that led to some new writing as well. No more than 500 words, probably, but it was progress. I didn't set any goals for today, but now that I've made a wee bit of progress, I think I can safely make a word count goal for the weekend. I have a Big Bang deadline I need to meet this weekend, and so that's what's at the forefront at this time.

1&2. Today I made disappointing word count. Only 1.5K :(.

3. I still feel confident about the plot concept, but some questions tripped me up. What kind of food in Hong Kong would you bring a man born in 1930's New York to enjoy? How do you kill a vampire zombie as splashing of infected flesh may not be the best idea. And I need to research computer programming.

4. I listen to pop music when I write, blocking out the noise from outside.

Weekly chat:
I think that I need someone to read the draft and just bounce some idea with me (No canon knowledge needed). Anyone can help? (It's ~4K and Marvel comics)

Captain America and vampire zombies in Hong Kong? (Or is there another Marvel character born in 1930s New York whom I'm not thinking of?) Sounds interesting!
