Well, this is my last day to check in with you guys! I think it's been a busy but on the whole productive week for everyone--whether in real life or writing life, but I think especially with writing. On the whole it seems like everyone is on track for their monthly goal so you go guys! Nice work everyone! :D

Hello! I'm new to this comm, so I hope I'm doing this right.

1. What are you doing today?

I am writing an Odyssey 5 fanfic that was purchased from me at the help_australia auction. (Yes, I am a little late)

2. What was the goal you set for today and did you meet it?

Today is not over, so I will have to let you know if I met it. I want to write the next part of the story from each of the five characters' viewpoints.

3. What are the things you feel really confident about with your fic? The things that you're not feeling so confident about?

I like the beginning; it's a nice teaser and would suck in anyone reading who was a fan of the show. I have no idea how I'm going to explain and resolve what happens to them all in the story. /o\

4. If you have a writer's block, what do you do to get out of it? :)

I've never found a satisfactory cure. Usually time fixes it, for me.

April is MY first month! And you did everything just fine! ;)

It sounds like you've made wonderful progress on your fic! Keep up the good work and I hope today is very productive for you! :D

I didn't write anything at all for last two days because I felt like I'd hit a brick wall. Luckily, the little break worked wonders and that big dark cloud of doubts has cleared out. I'm a little behind schedule now, though not too bad and I should still be able to make the deadline.

Right now I'm editing a little and then I'll move on to writing the next bit.

Sometimes breaks are needed! I'm so glad you got your mojo back, though! ;) It's also really good to hear that it's looking like you're going to make the deadline! :D

MOAR EDITING. Though I did write a snippet as well, of the super-long (for me) where-is-this-going totes ridiculous OT3 futurefic. <3 Which I don't know if I'll ever do anything w/, but which makes me feel all squishy every time I write it, so it's self-reinforcing!

Though I think I might for real be done w/my help_japan fic. I think I even have a title! I feel like the closer I get to finishing a fic, the longer each bit of progress takes. Editing could take me forever if I let it--it's about knowing when to step back & make a decision to let it go into the world for me. I'm probably not going to post it until Monday or Tuesday anyway (this is another thing, giving myself a zillion chances to look at it again out of fear I've missed something, though I could keep doing that forever too).

Thanks. I was wrong about the 6 hours though. Fics don't go live until May 1st! I was getting confused with the other challenge Im writing for where the go live just after the deadline.

The betas were great. It was embarassing how many silly little mistakes there were that I'd missed, even though I check on a printed version and everything...

I have not checked in in a long time. Hectic week has been hectic!

I've been writing, though! Granted, not anything I've meant to finish this month, but a meme fill that was meant to be a short bit of cracky fluff, but has become this... well. There's backstory now. And a pronounced dearth of crack. Yes, this is my life now.

Today, I've been working on getting the next 1,200 words or so suitable for posting (anonymous for now, but that might change if I get brave)... I'm not quite there, but the day's not over yet.

1: Since last time I checked in, I've scribbled a couple pages of notes about my planned 50K story for May, and begun settling the character list a bit. (The kids are still going to be popping out of the woodwork like bunnies for a while - eventually they'll conflate and become unique, I hope - but the grownups are beginning to develop some backstory and even tentative names.) This draft is going to be fuller of [word] and [12yoB] and [something-ly] than anything I've ever written, I suspect!

2: No writing goals today. It's a week till finals, in which time I have to finish an insane amount of math homework.

3: Having stepped back from the typing up of old drafts, I'm really quite happy with how much my eye for story and plot has improved in the past year or two. I can look at a draft and say "hey, that has potential" or "what was I even thinking?!", whereas not too long ago I honestly couldn't tell a good story (of mine) from a bad one without feedback. O_O

(Yes, I'm in a ruminative mood. It's Holy Saturday; that happens.)

4: Depending how bad the block is, I either scribble pages of meta and worldbuilding until somebody starts talking again, or ignore the entire mess for a few months. *shrug*

1.& 2. I did 1.5K out of 2K today. It's the second day I'm behind the goal.
3. I got feedback and has a better idea of the shape of the story. Now I just need to fill in the details.
4. Iwait, or trying to talk with somebody.
