It's time to sign up for the August WIP challenge!

Some people join the challenge midmonth, or comment on check-in posts without signing up, which is fine -- I'm glad there's a way for the challenge to be useful in a variety of ways.

But for those of you who find the commitment of signing up useful, please leave a comment with the below information.

Signups will be open until the end of July.

~mod note: I'm unavailable to host the check in posts during the last two weeks of August, the weeks beginning 23rd and 30th as I'm on holiday.

• Level of challenge: 1 chapter, 1000 words, 1 fic finished, whatever you like
  
• Fandom(s) involved: if you know at this point
  
• What you're looking for from the challenge: this could be as vague or specific as you like: someone to be accountable to, someone to remind you to write, someone to bounce ideas off, etc.
  
• What you could offer other participants yourself: ditto!
  
• How people should contact you: DW message, e-mail, IM etc.
  
• Time zone: useful for seeing who might be up for a writing session at a time convenient to you

I couldn't continue to run this challenge without assistance with the daily check-in posts. Many thanks to everyone who's helped with the check-ins before!

Please let me know if you'd be interested in helping out. A week per person would be ideal (I usually assign weeks running Sunday-Saturday just for consistency). I'm happy to help come up with suggestions for discussion topics (& Friday or Saturday is usually the general chat/snippet/beta-seeking etc. post).

Level of challenge: minimum of one chapter posted (Taggart) and at least one fic posted (SSD) before I travel. Anything else that I can accomplish is a bonus.

What you're looking for from the challenge: motivation and encouragement, possibly a beta.

What you could offer other participants yourself: motivation and encouragement

How people should contact you: PM is fine, comments on here are also fine

Level of challenge: Completion of all selected challenges for the month. Do-able, IMO.

Fandom(s) involved: Many and varied.

What you're looking for from the challenge: The same daily motivation as always.

What you could offer other participants yourself: Beta duty, always available.

Level of challenge: Write and post at least one new chapter in my longest running WIP; complete at least one challenge fic that is past due. If I find myself with lots of free time, I may try to finish up a WIP that is close to being finished.

Fandom(s) involved: Lord of the Rings -- and as time allows, Major (anime/manga).

What you're looking for from the challenge: Encouragement to keep at it daily.

What you could offer other participants yourself: The same, plus encouragement via daily check in posts.

I can do a week of check-in posts. August 16-22 is probably my best week, if it's available. I MIGHT be able to also do the last week (Aug 30th to Sept 5th) if you are short of volunteers.

The 16th to 22nd is still available. I'm just about to do the reminder post and I'll keep the last week of August as taken, just in case there isn't enough volunteers over the next few days.

Level of challenge: Write and post at least a new chapter for TWTA. Bonus: finish the "Tomorrow" oneshot.

Fandom(s) involved: Haikyuu

What you're looking for from the challenge: Motivation, encouragement, reminders to just write and worry less.

What you could offer other participants yourself: The same, plus brainstorming or just talking if I'm familiar with the fandom.

How people should contact you: DW PM or replies to my comments are fine as well.

Time zone: GMT+8 (though my schedule is often flipped or pretty strange, so unfortunately, my timezone is not a very accurate gauge of when I'm around.)

I don't often sign up for monthly challenges, but I've been so frustrated with my writing lately that I'm hoping this might give me a much needed kick in the butt.
