WIP Challenge Check-in, Day 17 -- Monday

Hello on Monday!  What kind of a writing day has it been today -- or yesterday, if today hasn't gotten going yet?

•     I'm taking a break
•     I did something else that I'll talk about in a comment

Discussion - Are you able to catch plot holes in your work as you edit, or do you rely on beta readers to help with this?

I've been taking a break of late, but have hopes for some writing time today. I expect to have time, but whether I'll use it for writing is another matter!

It has been a number of years since I used a beta reader -- I do all my own editing, so all mistakes are my responsibility. I am usually able to catch plot holes in the outline stage, but if not, then I catch them when editing. The few that made it to "publication" were either so small that no one noticed them (except me at a later date) or they were fixable after the fact without too much hair-pulling. I had a reader once who caught a plot hole in the making -- she questioned me on it and I realized she was right, so I was able to change my plan in time so that the story flowed properly, starting with the next chapter.
