How is the writing going today? What about yesterday?
Discussion: challenges. Apart from this one, do you participate in other challenges? Do you have a favourite type of challenge? Any disadvantages to challenges?
Long winded question because I'm curious :)

Date: Wednesday, September 9th, 2015 03:21 (UTC)I participate in a monthly challenge at LJ as part of a Lord of the Rings writing community. Each month there is a theme posted, and if the theme appeals to me, or if I get an idea right away after seeing the theme, I request an element. The element is usually a word that has to be used in the story somewhere along with the theme. I like it because the themes are interesting, and there is a time limit set for posting (but if you miss it, grace is given and you are never really late!). It gives me variation when I am stuck with my WIPs, but sometimes it's a disadvantage because I use all my time to work on these challenge fics and don't work on my WIPs!
There is also a yearly challenge I take part in, that is also LotR-based. It takes place in March, which is called Back to Middle-earth Month. It is set up differently each year, but the prompts are very inspiring -- this year had me claiming more prompts than I can possibly write in my lifetime, but I couldn't resist them! Hopefully by next March, I'll have made some progress in writing the stories. ;-)
