WIP Challenge Check-in, Day 1 -- Thursday

Hello on Thursday!  What kind of a writing day has it been today -- or yesterday, if today hasn't gotten going yet?

•     I've sent my fic off to my beta
•     I posted today!
•     I'm taking a break
•     I did something else that I'll talk about in a comment

Discussion - Author JRR Tolkien said about his writing, "I wrote the [Lord of the Rings] Trilogy as a personal satisfaction, driven to it by the scarcity of literature of the sort that I wanted to read...  I was not thinking much of the profit or delight of others; though no one can really write or make anything purely privately."  What about you -- do you write for yourself or for your readers?

Even with an extension, I missed the deadline for my recipe!fic. I can still submit even if it's late, but I have to make time to write it first! That said, I did accomplish a lot as far as real life work goes!

I would say that, for the most part, I write for myself. Like Tolkien, most of my stories are done for personal satisfaction because what I wanted to read wasn't out there at the time. I have at times written with readers in mind, however, and some readers have influenced the direction of the story when I was at a crossroads, or gave me ideas for stories that I hadn't thought of myself. But in the end, it's still mostly for me!
