Discussion: music and noise. Can you write with music, TV and other noise in the background? Do you prefer silence?

Got quite a bit of writing done today before I had to travel down to Glasgow for uni. I tick posted because I'll be using the free wifi on the train to log on AO3 and cross post a couple of things.

Music is always on in my house so I can pretty much work with most background noise, sometimes I can write when it's quite but I find that I have a lot more trouble concentrating and focusing when there's no noise.

I prefer silence, if only so I can fill it with my own music via headphones.

Slow week for writing. My brain's just all over the place lately.

Life is hectic this week, so I'm not even thinking about writing. I just have to hope that free time will come my way some day, and when it does, that I'll use it wisely for writing.

Silence is good, but I have noticed that I seem to write better if I have some white noise going or instrumental music -- nothing with words or singing. I cannot write with the TV going.
