WIP Challenge Check-in, Day 3 -- Thursday

Hello on Thursday!  What kind of a writing day has it been today -- or yesterday, if today hasn't gotten going yet?

I wrote! I decided that, since it's a new month, I wanted to try writing a bit every day on a neglected WIP that is most in need of updating. I altered a NaNoWriMo spreadsheet to work for December and for a single long chapter and I've been tracking my progress. So far so good!

My characters are usually the same version whenever they recur, and even when I am writing AU, I don't go far afield of the character as established in canon (though my interpretation of that may differ from someone else's!). However, I have deviated from that a few times, and it's been interesting to write a different interpretation.

Got another fill done after last night's post, then did yet another one this morning, and well ahead of schedule, at that. More planned for after work this evening. I haven't had a week like this in ages, and I hope it goes on!

I vary my characters depending on how they're paired (or if they're paired). Personality traits are caught, altered, and reflected by the presence of others, after all. This also goes for who their friends and enemies are, how their pasts are affected (or changed, in the case of AUs), etc.

No time to write today, but that's okay, as long as I honestly have no time and am not just procrastinating. ;)

I think I tend to write fairly consistent characterisation, but there are a few differences, naturally. Since I mostly write shippy fic, those differences tend to revolve around relationship matters. Who takes the first step, what obstacles are to be overcome etc.

the usual. did some writing, did some researching, had a beat read my pages for the day.

From story to story, my characterization of any given character differs based on what happened in that alternate universe while the character was growing up. Some readers get upset about this. too bad, I say.
