WIP Challenge Check-in, Day 20 -- Sunday

Greetings! linaewen here to help encourage you and provide you with a setting to talk about your writing as we finish up the second half of our December WIP Challenge.

What kind of a writing day has it been today -- or yesterday, if today hasn't gotten going yet?

Discussion - My two week vacation officially begins today.  While I have high hopes of getting a nice amount of writing time in, I also face extra activities and travel due to the holidays.  How do the holidays you celebrate affect your writing -- do you have more time or less time to write?  Do you put aside your writing during holiday time or do you stick to your schedule/make time for writing anyway?

I am still doing research and planning, on my Yule Fic exchange story. I had to post my status recently, that I am on track, so I need to start moving into the word count stage soon.

Holiday times can be a mixed bag as far as writing goes. I believe I get more writing done during holiday breaks because I am away from my work schedule and responsibilities and more in control of what I make a part of my schedule. It's harder to write when family is around, except if it's my son -- spending time with him helps me, because we both write, and we sometimes have writing sessions together to help keep each other on track.

I'm on a posting spree today. The stocking exchange I'm taking part in opened posting today, and I posted a bingo fic which completed my first row.

Since I usually take two weeks off over Chrismas/New Year, I have more time to myself.

I'm doing some editing on an unfinished fic that I should really just buck up and finish. The story i'm set to publish in January is polished to a high shine and is just waiting for the art. Promo for that story is going pretty well, too.

I have a long story I really want to rewrite, but it's a difficult task.

Oh and I don't take time off writing for the holidays really. I do what I can to keep working throughout.

The mojo has returned in full force today! Posted three stories in various venues for a total of about 4,000 words, by my reckoning. I feel great.

Holidays make very little difference to my schedule, since I have to be at work for almost all of them, and that has long been how it works, so it does not affect my writing.
