Hello on Monday!  What kind of a writing day has it been today -- or yesterday, if today hasn't gotten going yet?

•     I did something else that I'll talk about in a comment

Discussion - When my son writes, he can't get going properly unless he has spent time world building, both in his head and on paper.  What about you?  Do you spend time building a world before you write, or does it happen as you go along?

No writing today, only shopping.

The main fandom I write in comes with an already built world, but sometimes I have to tweak it a bit to get it work with the story I am writing. I usually do this ahead of time because I don't really get into the story properly unless the setting is "set."

Work and travelling today, so no writing.

I usually wirte in mundane settings and close to canon, so the topic of worldbuilding rarely comes up.

I wrote this morning, but I think that's all I'm going to do today. I'm exhausted. The holidays need to show themselves the door.

Worldbuilding depends on what the canon gives me. A lot of the time, I have to build things from scratch, and that's fine. Sometimes, it's the best part.
