Hello on Wednesday!  What kind of a writing day has it been today -- or yesterday, if today hasn't gotten going yet?

•     I did something else that I'll talk about in a comment

Discussion - A quote from J.R.R. Tolkien says, “When you are writing a complicated story, you have got to have a map.”  Do you use maps when writing?  Are they your own creation or one that someone else has made?

Writing will have to wait until the weekend, I think. Then I'll have to really push myself to not procrastinate, as my Yule Fic deadline is fast approaching!

I use maps a lot in my research. I have made my own, but I usually use those others have made -- and since my writing is in the Tolkien fandom, his created maps are invaluable!

Wrote a bit more on my WIP.

I've never drawn a map for my fics, but I've never done a lot of world-building, so.

I got a good bit of writing done this morning, but ... tomorrow is going to be a trial. Once I get through the first part of the day and come back home, I should be bunkered down and okay to write again. Almost through the holiday nightmare!

If I'm working on an original, I definitely make maps, since I like to tinker with the old fantasy world every now and then, and mapmaking is actually a lot of fun for me, but ... for fanfic? Not really. If your porn needs a map, you either have very interesting porn, or you've got odd priorities. ("Behold! The blow job shall be delivered here!")
