Check-In – Day 4

Groundhog Day. I sincerely hope none of you – okay, last time I do that joke, I promise. How is the writing going?

— Thinking. Maybe a little, maybe a lot.
— Writing.
— Planning and / or researching.
— Editing.
— Sending things to the beta.
— Posting!
— Relaxing, taking a break, etc.
— Other stuff-ing. Look at the comment.

Does the atmosphere around you as you're writing affect the atmosphere of what it is you're trying to write? Or do you armor your surroundings against that?

Started editing the third chapter. It's going a lot slower than the first two, but seeing how it's the first time I'm rereading it at all, that was to be expected.

As long as I have my laptop or phone, and earphones so that I can block out any sounds that distract me, I'm good.

I am essentially taking a break from writing this week, but hope to get back on track this weekend -- which starts this evening, yay!

I usually try to not let my surrounding affect my writing -- though a few times I have needed to put myself in surroundings that helped me get a better feel for a scene I was trying to capture (outside, in the woods, standing in the rain, that sort of thing).
