Hello on Tuesday! What kind of a writing day has it been today -- or yesterday, if today hasn't gotten going yet?
I thought about my fic once or twice
I wrote
I did some planning and/or research
I edited
I've sent my fic off to my beta
I posted today!
I'm taking a break
I did something else that I'll talk about in a comment
Tuesday Discussion - Do you like to read other people's fics that feature a fandom character you also like to write, or do you avoid them?

Date: Tuesday, December 6th, 2016 14:22 (UTC)I used to like to read other people's fics that feature my favorite character (that I also write), even though they often didn't write the character the way I do. However, lately, I avoid them because I don't want to discover that someone else had the same interesting idea for that character in a story -- it has happened several times that I discovered my clever story idea had already been used by someone else, and this spoiled it for me a bit. Not that I can't still use the idea because we aren't the same writer and my treatment would likely be different, but it takes some of the excitement away. So, if I don't read it, I won't know it!
When I finish my epic WIP featuring my favorite character, I'll go back and read all the fic and not worry about such things. ;-)
