I didn't do any writing today (spent it driving, ugh) but I wanted to report on my awesome accomplishments over the weekend. I don't have a word count because it's all handwritten, but I filled about 45 pages in my notebook and drained a brand new pen! Now to decipher my scrawl and get typing... yay electricity!
I think what makes my favourite character my favourite is that you can write him so many different ways. He's evil in the original canon, but he wasn't always. I find that as long as I can come up with a convincing reason for him to act the way he does, I can have him do pretty much anything.
Well, I'm track for my May challenge. I'll post the latest story later this afternoon. One more to go. So it's time to cracking on that one for next Wednesday. (Oh, wait--I might have already started that one and just need to finish it...)
Oh, and actually, not one to go since next Wednesday is a new month and I'm not sure I'm going to be as diligent about posting to the comm.
Anyway...I posted a non-smut HP story yesterday, called Sleeping With Harry, if anyone's interested.
As for what makes my favorite character(s) my favorites...that's a tough question. Thinking of my recent favorites (Harm from JAG, Robin from BBC's Robin Hood, Harry from Harry Potter, Spock from the Star Trek reboot) I'd say I love a hero. But not the perfect hero. These men all have flaws that make them oh so human. (Especially BBC's/Jonas Armstrong's portrayal of Robin.)
33,008 words total! Yes, chugging along nicely! Here's hoping I can keep up the momentum! (16,992 words to goooooooo!!!!)
I have many favorite characters. Almost all of them are gruff, snarky, clever-handed, casually heroic, and secretly or not so secretly love kids. I so utterly have a type. ;-)
I haven't written anything fresh as yet today, but I was able to edit a bit and review some notes for a chapter and make some new ones. I'm hoping to do more than that later on in the day when I'm free again.
I was drawn to the character I write about most because he seemed to me to be the kind of hero that was true to life -- strong, valiant and honorable, but making mistakes, regretting them, and paying the price for them. He got killed off by his creator in the books, so I have taken it upon myself to keep him alive and develop him properly. ;-) It's great fun! He now has such a personality that I hardly remember that he's not supposed to be alive in canon.
