Discussion: editing. How much time do you spend editing your fic?

It usually depends on the length of the fic more than anything but for chapter fics I tend to read everything written and posted do date before starting on a new chapter.

I write the whole story, revise it, and edit it before posting a single word.

3,200 words of writing, and more to go before the story is done. *wipes sweat from brow* And I am going to have quite a lot of editing to do.

No writing is happening; need to try to at least get some brainstorming in for a fic coming due!

I tend to edit as I go, especially when there are breaks in between my writing sessions. Rereading and editing helps me get back into the flow of the story. By the time it's ready for posting, it's pretty much ready to go, but I will do a final edit just to make sure. I also am working through some of my older, already posted chapters in a lengthy WIP and editing to tweak punctuation and some grammar.
