Today's discussion question is a little thought experiment. A magic fairy offers you a chance to become a famous writer. The catch? Well, you'd have to abandon writing fanfic. Would you take the fairy's offer or not?

I did some writing -- only about 200 or so words, but I'm not complaining. I also wrote down quite a few notes which I'll hopefully be able to write out more fully later today. My notes consist of "almost writing" where I write down brief conversations that give me enough of an idea of what I want to do that I can fill it in and add to it later.

I'm feeling rather confident that I might actually be able to finish the one-shot I'm working on for a June challenge -- maybe even this weekend. I need to get it off my plate so I can put my Big Bang story back on and get to writing that properly.

I think I would say no to the chance to becoming a famous writer. I'm content as I am! Writing fanfiction is fun and fulfilling and even though I am under pressure sometimes to get my stories out, in the long run it's all optional. :-D

Oooh, I think I would decline the fairy's offer! I have fun w/writing fic, & I think that's partly b/c I long ago gave up the idea of becoming a "real" (blargh) author, so I can keep it low-pressure.

I seem to have a real rough draft of a fic pieced together from 750 Words-bits & new words I wrote yesterday & today. Which is great! Though it's not one of my goal fics for the month; it's not even one of the fics I thought I might end up working on even though they weren't really my goal fics. WHATEVER BRAIN, IT'S STILL WRITING SO WE'LL GO W/IT.

I have not wroten yet today. I was photographing my sisters' graduation. (They're not twins - it's complicated.) There's another one tomorrow. My feet hurt. o_O

Still and all. Sam/Bra'tac friendship. And now Janet and Teal'c are wanting to join in. If I can just... well, get the character voices and pull my plotline together... I am in hopes it will be epic.

I would have to decline the fairy's offer--I have too much fun writing fanfic, and was only able to recently start writing fiction at all (as in, finishing stories I started) through fanfic. Plus, I like fandom culture and the communication involved.

I wrote ~800 words today for the queer_fest fic, and it's not a total disaster, yay! I think I got over my fear of writing it, AND I think it'll be done by its due date (a week from today)!

My second and last queer_fest fic's due on the 25th. I'm hoping it gets finished by then. It's sort of exploded into a 30k+ epic and IDEK anymore. XD My muses ran away with me. :P

No work on my WIPs, but I have got two of my kink_bingo fills almost done. Just finishing revising them, as I wrote them at 1am last night and they're a bit shit atm. Hoping to finish those this morning so I can work on my WIPs later this afternoon. They need to be worked on more than KB fic does so. Yes. Here's hoping I get more than a paragraph written. XD

Also, I would decline the fairy's offer. Knowing how often fanfic --> original and vice versa, with my writing anyway, it'd be impossible to stop writing fanfic. So there. Suck on that, fairy. :P

Truthfully though, writing fic IS writing fic so yays for having a couple of KB fills almost done. I *do* hope that you get to add some more words to your goal fic. ;p

I got distracted by TVD which meant that I only managed 782 words for tonight. Enough to start (finally) working on getting the two main characters to start falling for each other. (Why yes, I'm a sap. Hee!)

Honestly? I'd decline. Fanfic to me is more than the writing part. It's tightly entwined with Fandom and interacting with other fen and having all this freedom and acceptance and squee that I feel would be lacking if I was a famous author. I don't write fanfic to be famous, i.e. a BNF, but because I really love to tell stories about the Fandom characters having all kinds of wacky or pervy or fun or sweet adventures.

*nodnod* I imagine being a famous author is in a way very lonely. I've got used to the fannish community around me and I couldn't imagine being without it.

And yeah, I'd turn down the fairy's offer too. If I want to be a famous writer I can do it on my own dime (sorry to sound like I'm bragging, but it's true) without having to give up fanfic. XD

Also I researched! Which is to say I watched three eps in a row of Stargate SG-1 with Bra'tac in. XD And then the next one was the one with him and Hammond being pretty much Team Awesome there, so I thought I would pack up and go to bed so I can watch that one when I'm awake.

(Also I am kind of wondering if Sam actually has any personality or if Amanda Tapping is just cool enough to make her epic anyway... *is rambling*)

I'd have to turn down the fairy's offer. I love writing fanfic. It's fun, you can explore any idea that pops into your head, and there's not a lot of pressure.

I wrote another 2300 words today! I think this is some sort of record for me. And it's not porn this time, but sprinkles of plot for on top of the porn (okay, it's plot for the sole purpose of getting to more porn, but whatever :D).
