Discussion: word count. Do you ever keep track of the word count on your fic?

More ideas on Korean romcom fic. Looks like it's time to start fleshing the outline into actual prose.

I used to keep track of word count all the time. I still do occasionally, but not every time now since AO3 does it for me once I post.

I haven't actually researched/planned as yet, but I intend to shortly. I don't think I'm ready to start actual writing, but we'll see.

The past several years, I was keeping track of word count for my involvement in getyourwordsout; this year, I am keeping track of days of writing instead. I make note of my word count as needed for the fic I am writing, but it's more of a personal guideline now than anything else. However, I do have a spreadsheet set up to track word count, in case I decide I want that info.

2,300 words yesterday. Feels like a big achievement, but I stayed up too late to get the story done, and I am very tired as a result.

I keep track of word count obsessively. -_-
