The weekend is upon us and with it, hopefully most (if not all) of us will have more opportunities to write.
Today's question: In regards to style, length, genre and tropes, how much has your fic changed from back when you started writing/posting? Do you think you've taken chances with your fic?

Date: Saturday, June 25th, 2011 08:19 (UTC)I started out writing short snippety porn on a kink meme & now I write mostly gen, ahahahaha. & my fic has gotten longer. Which on the one hand, hey, that's cool (sometimes I think people don't take shortfic as seriously, which makes me sad). On the other, it's... challenging for me.
I think I've taken some chances (though not as much as I could've). Sometimes it's worked beautifully--one of my most popular stories, & also one of my own favorites, started off b/c I decided to try to fill something I kept prompting to no avail (& generally when I keep prompting something it's b/c I want to read it but feel incapable of writing it). In other cases, I'm not as sure--it's particularly hard to tell if I don't get feedback. There are tons of reasons why I might not get feedback: small fandoms, it just might not be someone's thing, someone might like it but not comment, someone might give me concrit if I asked, but...
So yeah, tl;dr: you win some, you lose some. Trying not to let that scare me out of continuing to try new stuff!
